Vulcan Fitness — the go-to for great quality gym flooring, gym mats and rubber mats

Gym Flooring is often an overlooked aspect of a home gym. Getting the right flooring can protect both the existing floor and your equipment from damage while providing a slip-free surface to sweat all over! The best and easiest option for your home gym is rubber tiles. Rubber tiles are designed for high-impact activities and provide shock and sound absorption! They are also easy to install and maintain; They can be cut into shapes to fit your space, don’t need adhesive to install, and are simple to clean.

We also have our EPDM Gym Flooring which has smooth finish and EPMD stands for Ethylene-Propylene-Diene Monomer, a type of synthetic rubber produced by copolymerization ethylene and propylene in combination with small amounts of diene. EPDM Gym Floorings are more durable, easier to clean and has a more premium look and feel. EPDM flooring can be a good choice for certain applications, such as gym flooring, playgrounds, or outdoor recreational areas. It offers several benefits, including shock absorption, slip resistance, and durability. EPDM flooring is also resistant to weather, UV rays, and chemicals. It can be customized to meet specific design requirements, and it has a long lifespan with minimal maintenance needs.

Discover the best gym flooring, gym mats and rubber mats in Australia

Hunting for the perfect gym flooring for your home or commercial gym? Our commercial 15mm gym flooring are some of the best value floorings in Australia.

We recommend rubber gym flooring that is at least 15mm thick. This will provide enough shock absorption to protect your floor from dropping weights and general punishment. Our 1mx1m tiles weigh 12kg, so they won’t shift while you work out. Thicker flooring will provide more protection, but it gets expensive very quickly. Consider investing in a lifting platform if you think you will be training movements that require you to drop heavy weights from a height (such as Olympic lifts).

How to install gym flooring?

  1. Prepare the subfloor: Ensure that the subfloor is clean, dry, and level. If necessary, use a self-levelling compound to level the subfloor.
  2. Acclimate the rubber flooring: Allow the gym rubber flooring to acclimate to the room temperature and humidity for at least 24 hours before installation.
  3. Measure and cut the flooring: Measure the length and width of the room and then cut the rubber flooring to fit the space using a straight edge and utility knife.
  4. Install the flooring: Starting from one corner of the room, apply a urethane-based adhesive to the subfloor and lay the first piece of rubber flooring. Continue to install the flooring, making sure to butt the edges tightly together.
  5. Trim the edges: Once the rubber flooring is fully installed, use a straight edge and utility knife to trim the excess flooring from the edges of the room.
  6. Roll the flooring: Use a weighted roller to roll over the entire surface of the rubber flooring, ensuring that it is firmly adhered to the subfloor.
  7. Allow to cure: Allow the adhesive to cure according to the manufacturer's instructions before using the gym rubber flooring.

Note that the exact installation process may vary depending on the specific type of gym rubber flooring and the manufacturer's instructions. It's important to carefully read and follow the manufacturer's instructions to ensure proper installation and performance of the flooring.
